Does Nigeria Deserve Peter Obi?

"Every Nation has the leadership it Deserves"

In our country today, we are at a very important cross-road, the political atmosphere is charged, as the upcoming elections draw near. Three major candidates have emerged. Atiku, Tinubu and Peter Obi. Any sincere person looking at these three people without sentiments or ethnic bias would most likely agree that Peter Obi is the best candidate of the three. His past records, educational qualification, business savvy and lots more clearly show that he would most likely turn this nation around for the better but does Nigeria deserve a good leader?

I ask this question because the saying goes, "God gives a nation the leadership it deserves". When God is pleased with a people, He gives them leadership that will bring about peace and prosperity. But if the people are wicked then he allows wicked rulers to rule over them. Leaders who will afflict pain and poverty on them.

So I ask again, do Nigerians deserve good leaders? Look at the average Nigerian, most are selfish and wicked. If you disagree, then how can a young lady be stoned and burnt alive for supposed blasphemy?

Why would a lawmaker be killed because he belongs to a political party?

Why is it so easy for someone to be burnt alive? Just because someone raised an alarm and accused him of stealing?

Why do Nigerians find the slightest opportunity to extort money from their fellow Nigerians?

Why would petrol stations hoard fuel and increase the prices by 100% at any slight news of fuel scarcity? All in the bid to make quick money at the expense of another Nigerian.

Why would we see injustice being netted upon others and close our eyes? I saw a video of a man being beaten and later burnt alive and he was innocent. But there were passersby and some people were even recording the incident. How did we become so cold and heartless?

In Nigeria we are trained from childhood to avoid getting into trouble but never taught to help others in trouble. So the average Nigerian sees trouble and prefers to avoid it and never tries to help those in trouble. Look around you, you will see very clear signs of wickedness in our Nation yet we say we want a good leader. If we will ever get good leaders into positions of power in our nation then we all have to change our mindset.

We have to learn to be our brothers keeper.

We have to stop all these extra judicial killings.

We have to fight against injustice no matter how small.

We have to stop taking advantage of each other just for extra change.

We have to learn to stand up for what is right.

We have to wake up and stand together and serve our fathers land with love, strength and faith.

We have to build a Nation where peace and justice shall reign.
