Interview With The Highly Esteemed Pastor Ugo Dibia
Welcome to the Reality News Interview Session. I'm your host, Odiaka Favour. Opening this new session with me today is our honored guest, Zonal director of Loveworld zone E, campus ministry, Highly Esteemed Pastor Ugo Dibia.
Brief background of the guest: "Pastor Ugo Dibia has been in the ministry for over 20 years and has a wealth of experience in youth and campus ministry. He is passionate about seeing young people come to know Jesus Christ and live a life of purpose.
Favour: So, Pastor Ugo, let's open our session by getting a little insight on when you first started in the ministry. Are you ready sir?
Pastor Ugo: fire away.
Favour: Great! So what unit were you a part of when you first started in the ministry.
Pastor Ugo: I was a part of the choir, the drama team and the follow-up.
Favour: What a surprise indeed, I didn't take you for a drama lover. My next question sir. You are so passionate about giving sir, you always talk about it and get us to give whenever you have the opportunity to speak with us.
Pastor Ugo: I'm listening...
Favour: So this leads me to ask, what is your inspiration for giving? Is it because we are mandated to do so or you want to be blessed more or is it just a passion of yours sir?
Pastor Ugo: My love for God.
Favour: none of the above. Another surprise.
Pastor Ugo: yes, because you see, I love God so much that I'd like to give him all that I have, my time, financially, anything I can give. I believe that true love is demonstrated through action and God displayed this in John 3:16. He loved us and gave us his son in return. This is my inspiration to give.
Favour: truly wonderful sir, I'm honoured to be receiving such inspiration from you sir.
Pastor Ugo: when you love someone, you'd want to give everything you have. It's that simple.
Favour: it is indeed that simple sir. My next question sir. As a student, we often complain that we have to handle a lot of activities yet as a zonal director, you handle even more than we do. How do you then manage this and still have time for your personal life?
Pastor Ugo: very simple. "Understand the principle of time management." Time management is an oxymoron here as per you can't manage time itself but you can know how to work effectively with your time.
Favour: Care to shed more light on this sir?
Pastor Ugo: Yes. Know how to number your days, your peak energy time, schedule your activities properly. For someone like me, I know how to schedule very well. I make sure to effectively use every second of my time. Even during transit, I try to listen to messages or respond to my messages. This way, any free time I have will be allocated for my personal life. Just know how to manage your time.
Favour: I'm taking down notes sir. Thank you so much sir. My next question. Question 4. You pour a lot of attention on the youths, if you were not a zonal director in the campus ministry or a part of the campus ministry, would you still have passion for your dear youths sir.
Pastor Ugo: yes I will still have this same passion. My passion is because this is what God's purpose in my life is for. Even if I wasn't a part of the campus ministry. I would still try to help youths as much as I can.
Favour: I'm getting emoshonallll sir.. hashtag forever a youth. Next question. Personally, what do you think makes up an effective soul winner? the ability to reach out, the ability to follow up effectively or the ability to keep the souls in the ministry?
Pastor Ugo: The ability to be full of the spirit.
Favour: another none of the above. I'm listening sir.
Pastor Ugo: okay. Being full of the spirit means you're ablaze for God all the time. It shouldn't be confused with having the spirit in you. Yes, we all need to have the holy spirit. But as an evangelist, you need to be full of the spirit. This way, you will have the supernatural strength to do all three of the options you stated.
Favour: A wise answer coming from a very wise man indeed. Thank you for the insight sir. My next question. Everyone has their favourites, even Jesus had his favourite disciples, therefore, your favourite soul won yet. That is, who is the most memorable soul you have ever won
Pastor Ugo: I can't say I have any favourites since I've won tons of souls and it's always a new experience each time. But if I was to pick a memorable one, it would be one that took me 2 woke years to reach and follow up. Even during those two years, she still wasn't a part of the ministry but later joined after she finished school. Now, she's a deaconess in the ministry.
Favour: glory glory …I've received the power to be patient and resilient no matter what. Okay so here's another question. While most youth pastors focus on making their sermons interactive and entertaining to keep the youths attention, what would you call an effective sermon as a youth pastor sir?
Pastor Ugo: an effective sermon is one that was communicated through the spirit. It doesn't matter how happy or lively everyone is after the sermon, if the sermon didn't get to their spirit it wasn't effective. This is because in order for you to say your sermon was effective, there must be a change and a change is only possible from within. Through the spirit.
Favour: it's as if we'll be having you as a repeated guest speaker sir. I'm learning a lot. I have another special question for you sir.
Pastor Ugo: I'm listening.
Favour: okayyy..if you were given the opportunity to select any country of your choice, to evangelise asides from Nigeria, where would you go and why?
Pastor Ugo: China.
Favour: china? Why china? Not a country in a state of unrest?
Pastor Ugo: you try going there but for me, I'd love to go to China. I'd love to be opportuned to preach in China because there are a lot of people there. There are a lot of people to reach with the word and spread the gospel to. I'd like to go there to preach if it wasn't in Nigeria.
Favour: unrest has been cancelled off the list. We're approaching the end of our lovely session sir. I have a heartwarming question for you sir. what is your favourite thing about being a part of the campus ministry
Pastor Ugo: Having to meet young people, mold their lives and seeing the amazing things they do for God after. It's a very beautiful sight and it's what keeps me going.
Favour: I am so honoured to be a part of this dream sir. Please bless us with one more bonus question. Here it comes. If you were given the opportunity to, what would you like to name your first child?
Pastor Ugo: opportunity keh? It's my child. I should name my own child. It will obviously be a name given to me by our dear man of God, Rev. Dr. Chris oyakhilome. I would name my child what our dear man of God says I should name him or her.
Favour: wooow…time to cancel those names off my list. Thank you so much sir. So with this, I close our lovely interview session.
